The Eastern Orthodox Church faithful love the Saints of the Church and this is because all saints have anticipated going to the Kingdom of Heaven, have believed deeply in God, and in this faith have found the strength to rise above their human feebleness and to be empowered in the difficult exploit of the virtues. Their weakness and sinful inclination were withered in the shadow of grace like grass over which a thick and mighty forest has intertwined its branches, and the comforts sent by God gave them wings to fly up closer to Him.

The saints in the Church had a foretaste of the joys "in Christ", the Kingdom of God within themselves (cf. St. Luke 17:21), they spiritually considered temporary sufferings to be insignificant; they did not give to murmuring, anger, revenge, or some other impure passion but - with the guiding help of God's grace - considered carefully in every moment how to conduct themselves so as to fulfill God's will.

The saints "loved" Christ our Lord, and His Church! In the world around us today we can easily stray away from God and forget that He loves us! The liturgical texts of the Church best expresses it well: "God Is With Us"!  And when is God with us?  When we love Him and others as well as struggle like His saints!  Above all our Lord God is most pleased with us when we take the up our Cross (or Crosses) and pick it up and follow Him with more love.

Love towards God is a great power and a spiritual joy. Faith in Christ our God renews us!  Let us cry out to the saints of the Church to intercede on our humble behalf.....we who are poor sinners.

Amen!

Humbly in our Risen Lord,
