Prayer ropes (komboskini in Greek, chotki in Russian) are used in saying the Prayer of the Heart also known as the Jesus Prayer.  They are usually made of black yarn, marked off by wooden or glass beads, which may be of a variety of colours.

These prayer ropes are made usely for the Prayer of the Heart and we can note that you can get one with 100 knots, 50 knots, or 33 knots.

100 Knot Prayer Ropes from Jerusalem - These prayer ropes are made of high quality satin cord by Orthodox nuns in Jerusalem.  The knots are marked off in 25 knot divisions or 10 knot divisions, and decorated with a cross and tassel.  These prayer ropes are available in black, purple, crimson, dark blue, gold, or white.  The cost is $30 each ch.

50 Knot Rope - The knots on these prayer ropes are marked off into two twenty-five knot divisions and decorated with a cross.  $12 each

33 Knot Prayer Rope - The knots on these prayer ropes are surmounted by a bead at the top and decorated with a cross.  $10 each.

Circular Prayer Rope - Thirty-three knot circular prayer ropes.  $6 each.
